EIZO Enters Marine Industry with 21.3-inch Monitors

fdu2101_2101tHakusan, Japan, November 24, 2011 - Eizo Nanao Corporation (TSE: 6737) announced its entry into the marine industry today by introducing two 21.3-inch monitors scheduled for release in February of 2012.

The first two monitors will be the DuraVision FDU2101 and the DuraVision FDU2101T. Both are panel mount monitors and are specifically designed for use in monitoring systems in the engine rooms of marine vessels. The DuraVision FDU2101T comes with a touch panel and accepts input from both a bare and gloved hand, wet or dry. Both monitors utilize VA (vertical alignment) panel technology with a 1600 x 1200 native resolution and wide 178° viewing angles so two people can view the screen at once.

EIZO develops, manufactures, and quality control tests its own products to ensure it can tailor them to the needs of a particular market such as the marine industry. EIZO has strong relationships with suppliers that allow it to provide timely, reliable delivery and long-term product support. Future models will be developed for the other areas of marine vessels in addition to the engine room as EIZO seeks to gain a share of the global market for marine monitors.

The DuraVision FDU2101 and DuraVision FDU2101T comply with the conditions for temperature, humidity, and vibration as defined in the IEC 60945 standard for maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment and systems. They are also IP65 compliant which ensures they can withstand dust ingress and are protected against low-pressure water jets. For long-term reliability, no cooling fan or other easily breakable moving parts are used.

Both monitors have approval from four maritime classification societies: LR (UK), DNV (Norway), ABS (USA), and ClassNK (Japan). They are under application for approval for GL (Germany), CCS (China), and BV (France).

To conserve energy and prevent eye fatigue, both models include a brightness sensor which measures the ambient brightness and automatically adjusts the screen's brightness accordingly. Brightness is manually adjustable from the maximum figure to less than 1 cd/m2 so the monitors can be used comfortably in bright and dim ambient lighting environments. Backlighting of the control buttons ensures the monitors can be easily adjusted in a dimly lit room.
