Case Study: Reference Center for Mammography (North) Values the Excellent Quality and Functions of EIZO Diagnostic Monitors

Reference Center North

The Reference Center North in Oldenburg, Germany supports the nationwide mammography screening program for the early detection of breast cancer in the German states of Lower Saxony, Bremen, Hamburg, and Schleswig-Holstein. This northernmost of the five reference centers throughout Germany manages 15 screening units.

Along with its cooperation in the management of the screening units, the reference center’s range of services includes the comprehensive support of the screening units, numerous options for further education for participating doctors and MTRAs, evaluation measures for quality control, the collection and processing of the screening project results, and preparation for evaluation by the cooperative association for mammography as well as scientific evaluation in cooperation with regional university institutions.

The reference center has been using EIZO monitors for the diagnosis and case collection assessment for several years now – both dual monitor stations using the 5-megapixel RadiForce GX540 and single monitors with the 8-megapixel monitor RadiForce RX850. In addition, at the diagnosis stations, the EIZO FlexScan EV2450 with DICOM mode is in operation as an RIS monitor.

The reference center values the great quality and functionality of EIZO products. “We provide a good example with our screening units. That’s why it’s particularly important to us to use good, reliable image display systems. EIZO absolutely fits the bill. We’re very satisfied with the quality of the EIZO monitors, as well as the service and cooperation,” says Dr. Gerold Hecht, director and program coordinating doctor of the Reference Center North.

This is another reason why Christian Grünke, IT director of the reference center, set up a model workstation with EIZO monitors and graphics boards to serve as an example for the other reference centers and screening units.
