Trouble with Using ColorNavigator in a Multi-User Environment on Mac OSes

Under certain conditions, ColorNavigator calibration data cannot be saved in a multi-user environment on the Mac OS.

1. Description


In a multi-user environment on Mac OS, when the user logs into the OS with a certain user name, adjustment and calibration results cannot be saved. Although the results will appear on screen, they will not be saved after exiting the program.


Users who founds above problem
  ColorNavigator Ver.3 or earlier ColorNavigator Ver.4.0
Mac OS X 10.2 – 10.4

This problem does not occur. All user names except for the one with which the software was installed.
Mac OS 9.2.2

User names under “Limited” and “Panels” (restricted users) (User names under “Owner” or “Normal” have no problem.)

2. Temporary measure

2.1 Mac OS X

Change access permission as follows.

1. Login with the user name with which ColorNavigator was installed.

2. Select [Macintosh HD] – [Application] – [Utilities] – [ColorNavigator], and select [File] – [Get info] from the menu bar.



3. On the "Ownership & Permissions" tab, change "Read only" to "Read & Write" in the "Access" and "Others" fields as shown below.


2.2 Mac OS 9

There is no measure for ColorNavigator with Mac OS 9. Please login with a user name under the account types "Owner" or "Normal" when using ColorNavigator.
