Working All Day on 4K Resolution without Eye Fatigue

k-ito_img01.jpg

Since its founding in 1952, K.ITO Architects & Engineers Inc. has been undertaking various architectural design and administrative projects. Their biggest strength is hospital design, which they began in the wake of necessary public hospital maintenance in the mid-20th Century. Using the know-how gained from the experience and achievements of designing multiple medical facilities, the company grew to engage in projects across multiple fields.

“In order to create better designs and proposals, it’s essential to have an IT environment where employees can concentrate on their work. In accordance with our decision to move to a Windows 10 powered BIM (Building Information Modeling) system in 2018, we also decided to install 70 of EIZO’s 27-inch 4K FlexScan EV2785 monitors.” States Mr. Masatoyo Tada, of the Corporate Planning Division, General Affairs Department’s IT Office, regarding the results of the installation.

Reduced eye fatigue for effective work all day

“For the past four years the company has been using 4K resolution 27-inch monitors from different brands. On these monitors, working with a 4K resolution for long hours inevitably led to eye fatigue. This led some workers to use 4K resolution only in the mornings, and lower their monitor’s resolution to WGHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) during the afternoon.”

“After installing the EV2785 monitors, I began using it straight away. I found that, compared to other 4K monitors, it was much easier on my eyes. Some of the workers that had previously been lowering the resolution of their monitors to WQHD, began to work using 4K resolution throughout the whole day. When working long hours, not having eye fatigue significantly helped our performance. Eye fatigue is something that gradually becomes noticeable, so features such as flicker free screens, and Auto EcoView which automatically adjusts the brightness of the monitor to the surroundings, are very helpful.”

Space savings and flexible stand for improved freedom

“One of the great features of the EV2785 is its wide height adjustment range. Not only can it be lifted quite high, but it can also be pushed down almost to the top of the desk. A lot of workers use additional 19-inch monitors on the side, so it’s useful being able to adjust the monitors to the same height. Also the monitor frame is really thin. When I first unpacked it I thought that the monitor was somehow smaller than the previous 27-inch monitors we had been using, but actually the screen is the same size. I was pleasantly surprised by this space saving feature.”

Walk-through videos with realistic colors

“Because the EV2785 produces such beautiful colors, our architectural walk-through videos turn out very realistic, and true to what we imagined.”

“In an IT environment where operating systems and software change rapidly, we’re expecting the stability of this monitor to relieve at least a few of our worries.”
