| When It Comes To Image Quality The Camera Never
Lies |
| A major motion picture success depends upon a high
level of production quality. Using superior quality display monitors
allows a seamless image transition from the small computer screen
to the big screen. Liz Radley, Second Unit Director, Video and Computer
Graphics Supervisor for the MGM film AntiTRUST, has found EIZO's LCDs
to be ideal for the significant image quality requirements of the
film industry. |
| |
| AntiTRUST, starring Ryan Phillippe, Claire Forlani
and Tim Robbins, is the story of a promising young computer programmer
who is lured into working for a powerful and corrupt software corporation.
In the film, Phillippe discovers just how illegal his employer's practices
are, and lets the audience see the evidence as he displays lines of
code on EIZO LCD screens. These scenes called for monitors with the
highest image quality, a stylish sophisticated design and advanced
capabilities. "We were extremely happy with the design as well
as the functionality of the screen," said Radley. "If you
can ensure quality of the screens while being filmed, it will save
time and money. |

EIZO
LCDs Panavision Tested & MGM Approved
Prior to selecting monitors for the film, the production company looked
at all the top-tier providers. This selection process took over two
months and even incorporated extensive testing done in conjunction
with Panavision. |
| |
| When considering monitors for film, to examine the
monitors, looking for even minor flaws in picture quality. "Images
must be clear and concise, because in post - production, there is
no time to go back and alter scenes," says Radley. |
| |
 |
| |
| "We examine LCDs closer than the human eye can
focus, and the EIZO monitors provided us with sharp and consistent
images from screen to screen." Considerations in selecting monitors
for the film included image quality, resolution, refresh rate, color
consistency and clarity. The clarity of the EIZO monitors enabled
the cameras to capture images at a much higher resolution than most
other display devices available today. |

AntiTRUST
The MGM Film & The Computer Network
After extensive product testing involving the
film's production crew and Panavision, MGM employed an entire
corporation on set. This high tech movie set required the highest
image quality, unparalleled color consistency and total reliability.
Each monitor was run from a 'video village' located
off set (see photo at the top) and powered via a G4 with video
amplifiers. View the full system as it was employed in the schematic
below or by watching the film on video or DVD. |
