Proprietary Calibration Software |
| |
The EIZO-developed ColorNavigator software makes calibration both simple and accurate. Instead of having to judge colors and do time-consuming inputting, or having a specialist do it for you, all you need to do is input target values for brightness, white point and gamma. ColorNavigator works with a wide range of measurement devices* to directly utilize the 12- or 10-bit Look-Up Table of ColorEdge monitors for accurate and reliable calibration in minutes.
* Measurement device does not come bundled with a ColorEdge monitor. |

ColorNavigator Features |
ColorNavigator includes the following features:
| (1) |
Calibrate brightness, white point, and gamma of the monitor, then generate its profile...Select values for brightness, white point, and gamma then calibrate the monitor and create a profile. |
| (2) |
Emulate the monitor adjustment and create its profile (CG301W, CG241, CG222W, CG221, and CG220) …Emulate the color characteristics of another monitor or color spaces. Useful for remote proofing or when another monitor is the standard monitor in a workflow. |
| (3) |
Adjust the monitor with past adjustment results …Save calibration results as profiles and use them again to adjust the monitor. Different profiles can be saved for different purposes – for example, web design or printing – and then used as necessary. |
| (4) |
Validation…Measure the monitor’s color patches and display the delta-E difference with the monitor’s profile. |

Calibrate to Preset or User-Assigned Values |
| |

Preset Values |
Printing and photography/graphic design settings are available with default values*. Just select one and ColorNavigator will begin calibrating. This takes the guesswork out of assigning values for users with limited color management knowledge.

* Default Values
Printing |
Brightness: 80 cd/m2, White Point: 5,000 K, Gamma: 1.8 |
Photography, Graphic design |
Brightness: 80 cd/m2, White Point: 6,500 K, Gamma: 2.2 |
|
 |
| |
User Assigned Values |

Experienced users can assign the desired values for brightness, white point, and gamma and then calibrate.

ColorNavigator 5.1 Calibration Parameters
| Brightness |
30 cd/m2– 200 cd/m2† in 5 cd/m2 increments.
Setting to the monitor's minimum and maximum values is also possible. (Settable range for the CE240W and CE210W is 30 cd/m2 – 400 cd/m2 in 5 cd/m2 increments.)
|
| Brightness (Black Level) †† |
0.2 cd/m2 – 3.5 cd/m2 (0.1 cd/m² increments)
Setting to the monitor's minimum value is also possible.
|
| White Point |
Color Temperature |
4,000 K – 10,000 K in 100 K increments |
| Color Coordinate |
x Value, y Value |
| Gamma |
1.0 – 2.6 in 0.1 increments and L* |
|
|
† With the CG221, it may not be possible to set the brightness to the maximum value (200 cd/m2) depending on LCD panel performance. ††With the CE240W and CE210W, black level setting with an analog connection is not available. With the CG19, choosing 6-Color Adjustment after calibrating will disable the black level adjustment function, and gamma will only be adjustable from 1.8 to 2.6 in increments of 0.2.

Paper White Measurement |
| |

The software offers a paper white measurement function for color matching between the image on the monitor and the image on the printouts. By measuring the white of the paper to be used for printing, ColorNavigator will automatically set the target values for brightness and white point accordingly.
The matching accuracy has been tested with EPSON UltraChrome K3 series printers (Stylus Photo R2400, Stylus Pro 4800/7800/9800) and EPSON photo paper only.

 |
Ambient Light Measurement |
| |

ColorNavigator can be used to with a sensor* to measure the ambient light environment and automatically set it as the monitor's white point calibration target. Especially helpful when there is no light box to view a proof or when the light box's white point is not precisely on target, it ensures that the monitor's white point matches that of the ambient light environment for an accurate comparison between the hard (printed) and soft proofs.
* DataColor Spyder series and X-Rite Eye-One Display, Eye-One Monitor, DTP94, and DTP94B are not supported. |

|
|
Gray Balance Prioritizing |
| |

To achieve more accurate white point adjustment at each grayscale tone, gray balance can be prioritized. Selecting gray balance let's you calibrate your monitor's white point more closely to the set value even in dark areas.
Restrictions when calibrating with gray balance priority are as follows:
• Gamma and black level adjustments not available.
• Contrast range may be reduced.
• Resulting color space after calibration will differ than if this mode is not used.
* DataColor Spyder series is not supported.

Post-Calibration Color Adjustment |
| |

Sometimes due to variations in output from different printers or the special requirements of a project, it is necessary to fine-tune an otherwise perfectly calibrated monitor to match target colors. ColorNavigator lets you easily adjust hue and saturation for all six primary and secondary colors (red, green, blue, cyan, magenta, yellow), as well as white balance, brightness, black level and gamma, to achieve the closest possible visual match. The user can decide which of the adjustments will be saved to the profile. (6 color adjustment settings cannot be saved to the profile.)

For confirmation of calibration results or to achieve more accurate manual adjustments, a test pattern screen can be displayed. The test pattern screen shows a full grayscale ramp, as well as just the low tones (blacks), high tones (whites), gamma values, and the EIZO and ColorNavigator logo areas. Brightness, white point, and gamma can be adjusted manually with the results immediately reflected on the test pattern screen.

 |
Convenient Calibration Profile Management |
| |

ColorNavigator also makes it easy to keep track of calibration profiles. When you want to adjust a profile in order to match your monitor to other equipment such as printers or light boxes, you can use the Duplicate function to make a copy of it, then adjust the duplicate profile and give it a new name. Naturally, you can make as many duplicates, and thus adjusted profiles, as desired.
|
 |
Recalibration Reminder |
| |

After initial calibration, a monitor needs to be recalibrated at regular intervals to maintain color accuracy. ColorNavigator includes a recalibration reminder that will appear after a certain number of user-determined hours. When the monitor is first calibrated, the date and time are saved. After the time you set has elapsed, an LED on the front panel lights up, and a reminder message appears the next time ColorNavigator starts up. (Not available with the CG19.)
