| Automatic Gamma Correction
ColorEdge monitors offers automatic gamma correction, which converts the 8-bit data (256 graduations) transmitted by the computer to 10-bit (1021 graduations). These are then converted back into 8-bit with the ideal 256 gradations. The result is a far more exact representation of the required tone value characteristics than can be achieved by a standard LCD monitor or any other monitor which can only calibrate at 8-bits.
Most monitors cannot adjust the degree to which gradations are changed (gamma). The internal gamma correction function of ColorEdge monitors can maintain the smoothness of gradations while adjusting the differing gamma levels of operating systems and images. As these photos and illustrations show, gamma value is critical for the correct display of color.
