Blinking When Using ATI’s Radeon / Fire GL Series Graphics Boards

Applicable Monitors:
FlexScan L985EX, L887, L885, L797, L795, L695, L685EX, ColorEdge CG21, CG19, CG18

1. Description

When an ATI Radeon / Fire GL series graphics board and EIZO monitor are used together via a DVI digital connection, blinking and noise may result.
There is no measure to fully eliminate these problems because they occur due to a PC- monitor compatibility fault. Try the following to improve your display quality.

2. Countermeasure
[For Windows]
1. Download the latest CATALYST driver (5.1 or later) from the DRIVERS & SOFTWARE menu on the ATI web site and install it. (http://www.ati.com/)
2. Right-click on the desktop to select [Properties] – [Settings] tub– [Advanced] – [Options].
3. Clear the check box for [Alternative DVI operational mode] and click [Apply].

[For Macintosh]
This problem applies to ATI’s Radeon series only. ATI graphics boards with the Apple brand name are not affected.
1. Download the Radeon ATI display driver (ATD DISPLAY) from the ATI web site and install it. (http://www.ati.com/)
2. Click [System environment setting] – [ATI display].
3. Check the [Enable Alternate DVI TMDS Receiver Mode] box and click [Apply].
